We are mosaics - pieces of light, love, history and stars -
glued together with magic, and music, and words.
What are they?
Mosaics are decorative art or murals (images) created with an assemblage of small, flat pieces of colored glass, stone, tile, mirror and other materials, adhered to a single surface with mortar and sometimes grout.
Using Art to Build community?
Designing and installing a mosaic offers communities a way to breath life back into a public space, while providing a unique outreach opportunity for people of all ages. On a more practical note, mosaics seal and strengthen the surface on which they're installed, making them a creative deterrent for vandalism and graffiti.
Meet the Artist
Nick Dalton began studying the art of mosaic murals under the mentorship of Isaiah Zagar at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens in 2007.
For more than 25 years, Nick has worked in the non-profit world as a teaching artist and community outreach facilitator, while also acting professionally on TV and in the Broadway community. Nick designed the Heart Without Borders Mosaic program as a unique way to build community through art. See more of Nick's work:

First, you'll meet with Heart Without Borders co-founder and resident mosaic muralist, Nick Dalton. Nick will work with you to create the design for your mural, and help you find an ideal location if you don't already have one in mind. Once you've decided on a design, Nick and the Heart Without Borders tribe will help you organize your community installation event, and then guide your group through the process.
